アメリカのブラックバンド Vimur の 2nd『Triumphant Master of Fates』をレビュー。2019年リリース。
複雑で攻撃的なブラックメタルは前作『Traversing The Ethereal Current』と同じ。静と動の落差が大きくなったのと曲数が少なく短いのが前作との違い。
土台となるのは Dissection 系のブラックメタル。特にスラッシュリフを交えたギターワークによる大仰さ、冷たい音像が Dissection の 2nd を思わせる。そこに混沌とした雰囲気をブチ混んで捏ねくり回し一癖付けた音を出す。混沌と厳粛さが混ざり合う #2. "Consumed by the Source" が秀逸。
難解に受け取られるのは不本意だろうがレビューがしにくい音のバンドだ。疾走部分なんか本当にカッコ良いと思うが何度聴き通しても何故かしっくりこない。雑食性で消化不良を起こしている感じがするのは前作同様。
