コロンビアのブラックメタルバンド Inquisition の 7th『Bloodshed Across the Empyrean Altar Beyond the Celestial Zenith』をレビュー。2016年リリース。
突き抜けたタイトルと曲名の長さ。各単語の意味はわかっても何のことかよくわからん所が異端。13曲1時間近くのランニングタイム。イントロとアウトロのある構成。宇宙論的コンセプト作なのかいつになく壮大な作り。これ程の大作は 1st『Into The Infernal Regions Of The Ancient Cult』以来。
表面的には音が洗練されて気持ち聴きやすくなった部分もあるが根底に流れる淀んだ空気感に変わりない。音楽的作風はこれまで通りの Inquistion。ほんと〜に僅かずつだが作風を広げ続ける姿勢も変わっておらずアトモスフェリック・ブラックメタル的なスケール感がより増したように感じる。
後半は Inquisition ならではの暗黒ドラマにドップリ浸かれる高闇度の劇的曲がズラリ。神聖な響きすらある #6. "The Flames of Infinite Blackness Before Creation" とタイトルトラックが秀逸。#5. "A Black Aeon Shall Cleanse" 2:20〜からの「ヴィィィィィィイイ」も聴き処。前作『Obscure Verses For The Multiverse』同様の秀作。
